Shantou University (STU), located in Shantou, Guangdong, China, was founded in 1981 with the approval of the National State Council. STU is a comprehensive university under the jurisdiction of the Guangdong Province and co-developed by the Ministry of Education (MOE), the Guangdong Provincial Government and the Li Ka Shing Foundation. STU is the first Higher Education Institutional Reform Experiment Demonstration University in Guangdong and the only public university in the world that is constantly subsidised by a private foundation, namely the Li Ka Shing Foundation.
The cooperation between STU and SUSS, traced back to as early as 2013, has been conducted smoothly and successfully, with its highlights on the joint course programs in business, public welfare, language and cultures. On 21 June 2017, STU and SUSS formally entered into an MOU to enhance and facilitate the valuable partnership for further inter-academic exchanges and collaborations.
The MOU was renewed on 28 September 2020 as a symbol of good faith and anticipation held by both STU and SUSS in deepening and broadening their long-term ties for the academic, scientific and administrative fruition of both universities.
